Skeletal Remains
Dr. Barbara Weakly-Jones and Donna
Whitley Co., Kentucky
This was skeletal remains found in a wooded area of Whitley County, KY on
June 5, 2001. The person had been missing for a month and last seen at the
suspects house. He eventually admitted to dumping the body in a wooded dump
site area near the house. We were called by the State Forensic
Anthropologists who was contacted by the local police dept.
The original dump site was identified with adipocere, hair, upper false teeth
and one foot. The rest was scattered over a large area. It was difficult to
get Donna to move off one site to another. She seemed to follow the trail
that the body was dragged through and was much more inerested in the more
meaty parts. We believe that this case was scavanged by a bear rather than
dogs or smaller animals.
It has been such a great joy to learn this type of work and to meet such
wonderful people along the way. You have been wonderful to me and I really
appreciate all your help especially in getting Donna dog and helping me train
her. I started out with absolutely no knowledge of what to do or what I was
getting into. Donna has been a challenge but we seem to work well as a team and she is my best bud.
