Karen Kluting and Kallie
Lost Child
Hi -- just wanted you to know that Karen
and her Golden Retriever Kallie, found a 7 year old missing kid
today! He was hiding behind layers of visqueen near his house.
Kallie sniffed him out (she had a scent article), came back and
jumped on her mom which surprised Karen since they'd just gotten
started. Karen looked at her dog's furiously wagging tail and
put two and two together -- there was the child. He was in
excellent shape with coat and boots and even a little backpack. He'd
been missing since 9:45 a.m. today. The police looked for him until
11:45 when SAR got called in. Of course, everyone had already
searched the area many times where he'd been found -- but not
everyone wore a fur coat and had a great nose for sniffing!
I am very proud of both Karen and her dog. We spend lots and
lots of hours training and looking and to actually find someone
alive and in good shape is really what it's all about!
The first person Karen called on returning home was the lady in
Sitka who had put up a lot of money a few years ago so that Kallie
could have her hip surgery (both hips). The lady said she just
hoped someday Kallie would find someone -- and today she did.
